What should I do if a tooth is knocked out?
Pick up the tooth by the crown, not the root. Rinse it gently and try to reinsert it in the socket if you can do so without forcing it. If not, keep it moist in milk or between your cheek and gum and get to our office immediately. Call us on the way so we are ready when you arrive.
What if I have swelling in my face or jaw?
Facial swelling that is spreading or accompanied by difficulty swallowing or breathing requires a trip to the emergency room, not a dental office. Call 911 or go immediately. For localized swelling without these symptoms, call Twin Oaks Dental Studio right away at (248) 553-3100.
Can I take pain medication before my emergency appointment?
Over-the-counter pain relievers can help manage discomfort before you are seen. Avoid placing aspirin directly on the tooth or gum as this can irritate the tissue. Dr. Velkovski will provide appropriate pain relief once he has evaluated the situation in person.
